Clowd strongly supports renewable energy and is in agreement with:

A reduction in greenhouse gases through the development of appropriate renewable energy sources and conservation methods.

An ongoing improvement in the fuel mix of UK energy suppliers from ‘grey’ to ‘green’.

Increased research into green energy production leading to informed and balanced government strategy and policies.

Planning policies for renewable energy that balances the ‘green goal’ with the impact on the local environment and people effected.

Local biomass energy production of an appropriate scale being economically supported and encouraged throughout the UK.

All communities sharing the adverse physical, environmental and financial impacts of green energy production equally.

Clowd does not agree with:

The development of a multi turbine windfarm at Airfield Farm, with the resultant loss of amenity, visual and landscape impact, noise and potential financial loss to individuals.

The assumption that every individual proposal for the development of green energy sources is a good thing.

The assumption that every windfarm, wherever sited, is acceptable.

A Government strategy and policy for achieving greenhouse gas reduction that is biased toward wind and that does not properly tackle ways of reducing energy use.

The ‘few’ being forced to suffer loss of amenity and financially for the benefit of the ‘greater good’. Why should the value of our homes be potentially reduced for the benefit of others who make no equivalent contribution?

The industrialisation of our landscape, especially of our local landscapes, at the expense of and without the consent of the local population.

The profiteering and opportunistic approach led by ‘big business’ to the delivery of greenhouse gas reductions through a consumer led subsidy scheme.
